Reynolds Lake Oconee is pleased to recognize the most recent recipients of the annual Employee Awards for their integrity, exceptional quality, and commitment to the company. “The core of Reynolds Lake Oconee is the hard-working and extraordinary employees who live our core values and standards each day,” says Rabun Neal, President of Reynolds Lake Oconee. “These awards are our chance to recognize those people for their service.”
Sami Stevens, IT department, was awarded the title of Employee of the Year, while Ronald McWhorter, The Landing Golf Course Superintendent, was recognized as Leader of the Year.
Sami Stevens has worked at Reynolds for 24 years, starting as a snack bar and beverage cart attendant, while in college, and then moving to IT after graduation.
“I’ve had the opportunity to experience work from the guest services side and the support services side,” says Stevens. “It definitely helps to see both sides to have a better understanding of the company.” She loves the challenge her position presents. “Sometimes I have to step back and troubleshoot from the beginning to the end through trial and error, and I find much reward when finally resolving the issue.”
When not resolving IT issues, Stevens spends much of her time with her three children, Dylin, Sydnie, Vincent, and two dogs, Drake and Bella. She also enjoys working in her yard and getting her regular workout in at the gym.
Ronald McWhorter will celebrate his 36th year working at Reynolds in 2022. He enjoys the challenge of leading The Landing team on a daily mission to improve playing conditions.
“Every day is different, which keeps the job interesting,” says McWhorter. “Working with my teammates and seeing the smiles of Members and guests enjoying the greens is the best part of my job.”
Following his personal motto of “do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” McWhorter not only serves the Members and guests at Reynolds Lake Oconee, but also the Greensboro community as a whole. He has served on the Greensboro City Council and Greene County Recreation Department boards at various times for many years, and hopes to continue giving back for years to come.
When not keeping The Landing in pristine condition or serving the local area, McWhorter enjoys spending time with his wife, Shanta, children, Jasper, Jessica, Broderick, Kirsten, and Kursten, and nine grandchildren.
