Reynolds Lake Oconee is proud to announce the recipients of its Second Quarter Employee Awards for 2014. Charlie Vaughn, director of marinas, has been named Leader of the Quarter, and both Sami Stevens, senior software support technician, and Brian Adams, cart attendant at the Creek Club golf course, have been named Employees of the Quarter.
Charlie Vaughn joined Reynolds Lake Oconee as a forklift operator in February 1997. For 17 years he has remained in marina operations, moving his way up the ladder, and settling in his current role as director in May 2007. As Director of Marinas, Charlie oversees all four facilities inside the gates of Reynolds Lake Oconee.
“During my employment here at Reynolds, the culture of all the wonderful employees has never changed,” says Vaughn. “It makes my day and hopefully someone else’s when I show a member or guest how to operate a vessel safely for the first time, or to assist a child with catching his or her first fish.”
Vaughn is a member of Lakeside Church at Lake Oconee where he volunteers to clean the church monthly. When the opportunity arises, he enjoys anything outdoors, specifically hunting and fishing. Most of his spare time is spent with his wife, Erin, watching their one-year-old, Colton, learn and explore new things every day.
For 18 years, Sami Stevens has worked at Reynolds Lake Oconee, starting as a snack bar and beverage cart attendant while in college, then moving to IT after graduation.
“I’ve had the opportunity to experience work from the guest services side and the support services side,” says Stevens. “It definitely helps to see both sides to have a better understanding of the company.” Stevens loves the challenge her position presents, “having to sometimes step back and troubleshoot from the beginning to the end through trial and error, and finding much reward when finally resolving the issue.”
When not solving IT problems around Reynolds Lake Oconee, Stevens spends much of her time with her husband, Cliff, and three children, Dylin, Sydnie, and Vincent. She also enjoys working in her yard and getting her regular workout in at the gym.
What was supposed to be a short-term job, Brian Adams started working as a cart attendant at the National golf course in October 2003. His father, Robert Adams, who was employed at Great Waters at the time, made the suggestion to apply, and the rest is history.
“I am so happy I took my father’s advice,” says Adams. “Once I joined the company after working as a bench jeweler, I liked it too much to leave. I interact with the membership, and enjoy talking to them and getting to know their stories. We have a very interesting membership.” Adams recently transferred to the Creek Club in July 2013.
When he isn’t assisting members with making their tee times, Adams can be found entertaining a couple of his favorite hobbies - bowling and fishing.
