On April 16th and 17th, a total of 18 boats deployed from the Plantation and Lake Club marinas at Reynolds Lake Oconee in hopes of claiming top prize at the 24th Annual Member-Guest Bass Tournament at Reynolds Lake Oconee. In those boats were the 18 teams that competed in the two day tournament with 36 fishermen from all across the US represented.
“This is the most boats we’ve had in over ten years of hosting the Member-Guest,” said Charlie Vaughn, director of marina operations at Reynolds Lake Oconee. “This group has a lot of fun and we always walk away with new memories to share the following year.”
Following competition on Friday, an awards banquet was held to recognize the anglers who reeled in the top prizes. Over 50 members and guests attended the ceremony at The Lake Club ballroom. Bringing home the top team prize for the second year in a row were Dick Wuori and Dean Durham. In a close second were Al Mayoros and Doug Giesler, whose catch weighed in at just over a pound less than Wuori and Durham’s total. Ron Gable and Monty Johnson finished third for team rankings and were recognized as well.
As far as single honors go, Dean Durham carried the plaque home for “Big Fish” with his 5.16 lb largemouth bass that he hooked on tournament day.
“Lake Oconee is a tremendous lake for bass tournament fishing,” says Vaughn. “We’re thrilled at the high number of participants this year. We look forward to this outing every year and just have a blast doing it. We’re excited about that landmark 25th year in 2016.”

1st Place- Dick Wuori and Dean Durham with 10 fish weighing 29.37 lbs.
2nd Place- Al Mayoros and Doug Giesler with 10 fish weighing 28.08 lbs.
3rd Place- Ron Gable and Monty Johnson with 10 fish weighing 25.99 lbs.
Big Fish- Dean Durham with a largemouth bass weighing 5.16 lbs.
